Someone could have made a plain balcony. Thankfully, they got carried away. 😏🏛️

Carved flowers underneath, curls of ironwork across the front, and windows with rather elaborate introductions. So much care put into details that are still there, waiting for someone to look up.
A little architectural treasure from Pontarlier, France, finally escaping my photo archives.

Anyone else come home with more pictures of windows and balconies than of themselves? 🙋🏻‍♀️📸

They got carried away, and thank the sky for that. Flowers under the balcony, iron that curl across the front, windows with such elaborate introductions... The care still waiting for a look up. You gave it one. Éblouissant. 🌸

Éblouissant —what a wonderful word for it! Thank you so much! It’s hard not to pause and stare when someone put so much heart into stonework that most people just walk right past. 🌸
A very warm welcome to the platform, too! I'm so glad you stumbled upon my quiet corner. Looking forward to seeing you around! ✨ #welcome #newuser

Ah, you are generous. I only lifted my eyes, and Pontarlier had already written the poem in stone and iron. Your welcome sits softly… merci, I will wander by again. 🌷

already said a good tip lands, and that people following the archive along does too. The iron curls were the show. 😏 #Sandisquietcorner

That facade did not believe in stopping. Flowers carved under the balcony, iron curls across the front, fluted pilasters, a pediment, and dentil molding ticking along the cornice, all in warm ochre with the dark staining still on the stone. The street got the extra work, and it is still there if you look up.

I do come home with more. The plain version never makes the archive. The one that got carried away always does. #Pontarlier

Exactly! The level of craftsmanship is incredible—they didn't hold back on a single inch of that facade. Proof that looking up while walking through town is always worth it! 🌿🏛️

They really did not leave a plain inch on that facade. Carved flowers under the balcony, iron curls across the front, and that arched window arriving like it has an introduction to make. Looking up in Pontarlier is not a hobby, it is the only way the street finishes its sentence.
