I found this pin that seems to show a chessboard. Does anyone know what it means?

I was walking home from a show at the Hollywood Bowl last week and I found this pin on the ground. Does anyone know what it might mean? It doesn't appear to show a checkmate or some sort of puzzle, but I could be reading the pieces wrong. Can you figure it out?
