Silverfish in "Newly Renovated" Flat
hello everyone! I just moved into a newly renovated apartment in Germany on the 17th floor. Upon moving in, I’ve started seeing silverfish (2-3 a day) in the living room, kitchen and in the bedroom (near the bed and wardrobe).
The landlord didn't mention anything about this before I signed the lease. It’s a high-floor, modern renovation, so I didn't expect an issue.
I’ve already:
• Vacuumed everywhere.
• Placed 20+ lavender-soaked pads around the baseboards.
• Put out sticky traps.
Despite the lavender, I’m still seeing them come out in the bedroom. I’m physically nauseous and can’t sleep.
Questions for the community:
1.Is this common in high-rise renovations in Germany?
2.Does this count as a "Mangel" (defect) that I can report for a rent reduction (Mietminderung)?
3.Any advice on how to deal with a landlord who hid this?
