Could MS make child xbox accounts any more frustrating if they tried?
Seriously. The Xbox experience is so 'on brand' for Microsoft.
My kid was so excited, he saved up and bought an xbox and was ready to play it. It took me so long to figure out all the settings, numerous accounts, sign in loops, and clunky processes that he ended up going to bed disappointed without getting to play it. Then it took like half a day more for just *one* game to download for some reason even though we have fast internet.
Having only used a Nintendo previously I just can't believe how complex and broken the xbox platform appears to be. Approvals don't work half the time. He'll request something and I never receive the request to approve and if I do it doesn't work. I ended up purchasing a game add on for him through my account because I could never get the approval to work via his account. Then learned that this only works for the actual user that is logged in making the purchase and can't be shared.
Then I tried to purchase a gift card he could enter, while logged in as his account on my laptop and it says that code has already been redeemed, even though the xbox doesn't think the purchase was complete. So now I've purchased this damn add on twice and yet I have 0 copies of it that can be used by my son. And it's Microsoft so customer support is nonexistent.
And of course MS can't seem to maintain a login from one tab to the next so I have had to sign in with multi factor authentication about 46 times.
Serious I am about to burn this lousy console. It's like you need to get a fucking PhD in Microsoft Studies just to operate one of these things. #games source
