Looking for simple advice to make van living a bit more comfortable
I’ve lived in a car before for two years, a tiny Nissan that I made no modifications to and just slept across the back seats. I’ve been in a homeless hostel the past year, but I can’t stay here much longer. It is a very difficult environment to live in if you aren’t experiencing substance abuse issues. I never feel safe and can barely sleep. I’m saving up to buy a cheap little van and will live in that instead. I’m hoping the lack of windows will prevent the dreaded knock. The pic I have included in the post is just an example of the kind of interior the van will have. I can’t afford anything large like a Ford Transit, it will be a smaller van such as a Renault Kangoo or a Fiat Doblo and an older model likely from the late 00’s. I don’t have access to any tools or an area I can work on it, and I have no one to help me. I live in Scotland so it can get relatively cold during the winter months. The only idea I have at the minute is to line the floor with a roll of loft insulation, cover that with a plywood board, then a mattress on top (maybe a yoga mat or something to act as a barrier between the two). I am very restricted it what I can do due to my circumstances and would really appreciate some tips or advice if anyone has some. Thanks. #lifestyle source
