Starting a 4 month road trip for rock climbing this week. I had to coordinate it with a family vacation in Bozeman, so unfortunately have been driving through a heat wave from Minnesota to North Dakota for the past few days. I have been trying to keep me and my kitty cool.
Today I woke up and there was a cat turd by my feet in bed. Great. Didn’t get on anything but one sheet so I balled that up to throw it away. Guess I will have to shave her butt so she doesn’t get and freaking dingleberrys. First time this has happened.
Well I finish breakfast and am taking time to relax and enjoy the cool morning temps, sitting on the bottom of my bed under the maxair fan. All of a sudden I’m itchy all over my body. I thought it was psychological but eventually I look down and there are hundreds of little bugs all over me and my sheets. I freak out, scared of an endless infestation just a few days into my trip. It turns out they are “thrips” and they came in my max air, attracted to my white bedsheets!!!! I threw away my sheets and bought new ones at Walmart and vacuumed liked crazy. They seem to all be gone and otherwise will be dead in 2 days without plant matter. They will not lay eggs that will hatch either. Good but also sheesh.
Because of the heat and bugs I decide to get a hotel for the night. Honestly doesn’t even feel defeating because the point of my trip is to rock climb in the PNW not suffer in the Midwest.
I just went to get ice cream to ease my sorrows, and turned the wrong way down a one way. It turned out being fine but it was embarrassing and was a real cherry on top.
JEEZ. Just ranting. I know things will get easier when I’m parked in one spot for weeks climbing and enjoying good weather. Anyone have a bad day to share and make me feel better? #lifestyle source
