Every morning before sunrise, Bashir swept the long road outside the hospital. People barely noticed him , just the soft rhythm of a broom and a man in worn sandals. One winter night, a woman collapsed near the gate, shivering and alone. Cars passed. Doors stayed shut.

Bashir put his broom aside.
He wrapped his thin shawl around her shoulders, called for help, and ran inside to alert the staff. While waiting, he brewed tea from his own flask and held the cup so her trembling hands wouldn’t spill. When the nurses arrived, they learned she was a visitor who hadn’t eaten all day. Bashir quietly slipped his day’s lunch into her bag.
Later, when thanked, he shrugged and said, “Roads are for everyone. So is kindness.”
That night, the road was clean as always. But more importantly, it carried proof that dignity doesn’t wear uniforms or titles, it shows up in simple acts, done without applause.
