LPT: When someone pushes you for an instant work answer, ask for 10 minutes and reply in writing
A lot of bad work promises happen because someone wants an answer right now.
If I get put on the spot, I say: Give me ten minutes and I will message you.
Then I reply in writing so it is clear.
Real example:
My manager asked in a meeting, can you have the client report done by Friday?
I said, give me ten minutes.
I checked the data pull and my calendar, then I messaged: I can deliver Friday end of day if we reuse last months slide deck format. If you want the new dashboard charts too, I can deliver Monday morning.
Conclusion:
Ten minutes saves you from panic yes answers, and the written reply makes the tradeoff clear for everyone. #entertainment source
