October 2 is Child Health Day in the United States.
This day was established in 1928 by President Calvin Coolidge to promote children's health and well-being. There are many ways you can help raise awareness and advocate - from volunteering at your local hospital or organizing fundraisers, to simply spreading the word about this special day.
Why National Child Health Day is Important
1. It raises awareness. It's a reminder that we must do everything in our power to ensure that children are safe, healthy and thriving.
2. It helps identify health issues. Focusing on children's well-being helps identify areas where interventions can be made to improve their overall health, such as anxiety or depression (mental health).
3. It helps us prioritize children's needs. We remind ourselves of the importance of children's needs over other interests. This means dedicating resources and policies towards children’s health for a better future.
