MEET THE COSMIC'S CRAB! 🦀
NASA unveiled on Friday a breathtaking close-up of the Crab Nebula, showcasing the remnants of a stellar explosion.
"The neutron star at the middle of the nebula (the rightmost of the two bright stars) is spinning 30 times a second, sending out pulses of radiation with clockwork regularity," the space agency described the photo.
"The Crab Nebula, which first appeared in our skies about 1,000 years ago, is located about 6,500 light-years from Earth," it added.
The photo was captured by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope in 2016. (Instagram/NASA)
