The packaging is usually the first thing I forget, the product is what matters
I've realized how little I care about fancy packaging once I've owned something for a while.
The box gets thrown away. The presentation gets forgotten. What matters six months later is whether the actual item is still useful and holding up.
I think that's part of why I like straightforward products. If something is still working well after the excitement of buying it has completely disappeared, that's a much better sign than how impressive it looked on day one.
