What changed Tupac? Prison or death row?

I look at Tupac’s life from the time he first came on to the scene up until his death. From 1991-1994 he was like a very insightful man with his lyrics. His first three albums up until me against the world had a lot of thought provoking lyrics. Even in his interviews around the 1993-94 time he had this ability to make you think about the situation black people are in and the Society we live in. When he went to prison and did a interview I heard him say something I didn’t think I’d hear him say and it was along the lines of “fear is stronger than love”.
He was referring to the people that put him in jail but I still found that surprising. Then he joined death row and he got involved with Suge knight and he wasn’t the same way he was before. He was angry, got into trouble, and his lyrics went away from talking about keeping peace to dissing everybody he had problems with or bragging about the lifestyle he lived. None of these things are meant to down Tupac and say he went bad but I always wonder with him being mad at biggie, stretch, puffy, etc. What fueled his change? Was it death row or was it the time he spent like a year and prison and he came out. I remember him saying prison kills your spirit and I always wonder if his spirit got a little darker because of that. Let me know y’all honest thoughts on it.
