“This is an incredible community where you absolutely do not need to rely on a car. So we’re advocating for less car storage and more livable spaces,” Mathis said.

Mathis said many people in the area use larger cargo bikes that can often accommodate a parent, multiple children and groceries, for example.

“Instead of minivans, we get to ride our children and our dogs around in bicycles, and we want storage for that,” said Mathis, who has lived in the neighborhood for about 15 years.
