Happy 4th of July to all our American Friends!
In the Philippines, we used to celebrate also our Independence Day on the 4th of July, since it was on this date that the Philippines got her independence from the US of A. However, the Philippine Independence Day was later changed to June 12, honoring the day the country got her freedom the Spanish rule after 300 years.
To our family, we have a different reason to celebrate this day.
It is the date of birth of our beloved father. A doctor who chose to help the people especially those who can not afford pay a doctor's fee for consultation.
He was once offered to become the Provincial Head Officer, but he declined. He preferred to help patients rather than sit in an office and do a lot of paper works.
He passed away in 1997. During his burial, I was amazed by the number of people who came to attend his burial ceremonies.
