Halal yogurt is often very inexpensive. The quality is universally excellent in my experience. I always buy the plain, 2%‐3.5% milkfat varieties and add fruit, honey, or other flavourings myself.
I just bought a 2kg container for the normal price of $6.99 in a major Ontario discount supermarket. It's a 3.2% milkfat Indian-style yogurt, and its only ingredients are pasteurized milk, skim milk powder, and active bacterial cultures. It's 100% Canadian dairy.
I'm near Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and food prices here are generally much higher than in the US, especially dairy, so this is an enormous saving by any measure. I'm adding this here because where the single-serve brand-name yogurt cups often go on sale in US shops for $1 each, their sale price here is usually $1.99 regardless of the exchange rate. #finance source
