Carmona, Cavite passes 'Right to Care' ordinance

At least thirteen places now have healthcare proxy programs, commonly named as "Right to Care" ordinances, which allow patients to designate who can make medical decisions on their behalf in case they are unable to do it themselves.
Carmona, Cavite through its Ordinance No. 13-2026 is the latest reported city to have passed its version of the policy.
"Sa bisa ng nasabing ordinansa... kikilalanin ng mga healthcare facililties sa Lungsod ang mga pinagkakatiwalaang healthcare proxies hindi lamang ng mga miyembro ng LGBTQIA+ community, pati na rin ang mga live-in partners, solo parents, OFW families, senior citizens, \PWDs\], trusted caregivers, o sinumang may non-traditional support system na mabigyan ng karapatan sa hospital visitation, access to information, accompaniment sa confinement at makapagbigay ng critical health care decisions para sa kanilang mga minamahal sa buhay," wrote Carmona City Mayor Dr. Dahlia Loyola on her Facebook page this July.
Dahlia notes that the city's policy is aligned with Cavite's province-wide ordinance which was enacted earlier.
