Over the past decade, one of the biggest changes on the internet has been the increasing concentration of power.
Search engines, social media, content platforms, and advertising networks are now dominated by a handful of large tech companies. Every day, ordinary users contribute content, data, attention, and time — yet only a small number of people truly benefit financially.
Web3 is trying to change that.
Recently, I started exploring a platform called Tangled. It’s not a traditional social media platform. Instead, it feels more like a combination of search, community, and user-driven rewards.
On Tangled, users can publish content, search for information, participate in discussions, and receive points or digital asset rewards for their activity.
For the first time, it made me feel like the internet might slowly be shifting from “platforms owning users” to “users participating in platforms.”
Of course, the Web3 world is still highly controversial.
Some people believe it represents the future of the internet, while others think most projects in this space will eventually fail.
But regardless of the outcome, one thing is becoming increasingly clear:
The future internet will likely place more value on user contributions.
Especially in the AI era, content, interaction, and data themselves are becoming more valuable than ever.
Most ordinary people may never build massive tech platforms, but they can still participate early in emerging ecosystems.
For me, Tangled is more of an experiment.
It’s not about getting rich overnight or chasing a “secret formula for wealth.” It’s about exploring whether a new model of internet value distribution could actually emerge in the future.
Maybe it succeeds. Maybe it fails.
But many major shifts in technology begin when only a small number of people are paying attention.
If the internet truly moves toward a future where users help build and share the value of platforms, then projects like this may eventually be remembered as early experiments.
What do you think about Web3 and decentralized platforms?
