Every year on the last Wednesday of May, World Day of Otters is celebrated. The founder of the holiday is the International Otter Survival Fund. The goal of the festival is to draw attention to the world’s verdermen. Today, there are only 13 otter species, all of which are on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN).
