Here in the Pacific NW and especially in Oregon, fire season starts in June. Fires are purposely set to burn out the grasses, broken limbs and forest debris underneath the towering Pine trees that could feed a naturally-started wildfire.

Ah i did that too when i worked on a farm in tasmania. It was spring time and we spent a week cutting fire break lines through the brush, dividing it all into different segments. Then waited for a day with proper wind directions and old man who owned the land went around with a drip torch and set it all ablaze. Was the first time i saw someone laying a fire intentionally to PREVENT a bigger fire. My job was to run around with a water extinguisher backpack and a fire rake and check along the break lines. HOT JOB! The Aboriginee's still do it in their remote communities because they know its necessary.

In Hungary, the government has banned fires in gardens and open spaces, so our country's fire risk has decreased.

Several large fires were intentionally started on our territory last year, which also had to be extinguished by special aircrafts from Sweden.
