Strangely, I have only visited the Tower of London once, when a schoolfriend, accompanied by his wife and some colleagues from overseas, was on business in London. Just as well because the entrance fee was exorbitant at the time.

The Crown Jewels are displayed in a circular case and visitors may circle it once, without lingering, for security and lest they might have a photographic memory 😬. However, if you ask the Warder nicely, he’ll let you view a second time. Of course, we were lucky to do so.

Disappointingly, much of the collection of suits of armor and weaponry at The Tower had been transferred to the Royal Armories Museum in Leeds in the north of England,

However, there is so much history associated with the Tower of London, it is worth a visit.

In 1696, Newton was appointed warden of the Royal Mint, which was located at the Tower of London, then as Master of the Mint from 1699 until his death.
