why is the world open getting weaker every year
I looked at last year's world open and one from 2017. and the competition in the open section is so much weaker now. Xiong, had the highest average rated opponents at like 2425, and was the only one who played average opponents over 2400. whereas in 2017 there was 15 players who had average opponents over 2400, and the player with the hardest opponents Le, Quang Liem, played an average of 2511. 2022-2024 were similar to 2025 generally. pre-covid the world open was much stronger. Did the world open cut conditions after covid or something?
