TRepeating words and group of words many times in a paragraph? e.g. homas Bernhard: old masters.

While reading the book mentioned above, I realized the author used this technique a lot. He chose to repeat specific words in a text many times. It made me wonder, what could be the reason behind this style of writing? What did the author wanted us to feel by this? Is this rethorical technique? Is this something other writers do?

Personally I found it funny, it made the text repetative thereby rithmic, feeling like a rhime or a silly melody. It also felt like a person with monomania or obsession.

Let me give you some example:

>*- I had noticed that he used Aqua brava, a toilet water that I find by no means unpleasant. If that Englishman uses Aqua brava, I thought, he has good taste. People who use Aqua brava all have goodaste, an Englishman, moreover an Englishman from Wales, who uses Aqua brava is therefore not unlikeable to me, I thought, Reger said.*
>
>\- *Irrsigler has always kept the Bordone Room settee for me, Reger said, only once did I come to the Bordone Room and found the Bordone Room settee occupied, an Englishman in plus-fours had sat down on the Bordone Room settee and was not to be induced to get up from the Bordone Room settee.*
>
>\- *To analyse the Tempest Sonata has always amused me, it is the most doom-laden piece by Beethoven, through the Tempest Sonata Beethoven can be clearly presented, his nature, his genius, his kitsch all emerge clearly, and his limitations are shown up. But I only spoke about the Tempest Sonata because yesterday I wanted to elucidate the Art of the Fugue to you more extensively and more intensively, and for that it was necessary to draw on the Tempest Sonata, Reger said. Incidentally, I hate such labels as Tempest Sonata

And it goes on and on, all of the novel was written in this style, repeating specific words many times and even sentences. He could easily use synonyms or other ways to describe these words but he intentionally chose not to.
