Ford Transit overnight van
I have no experience in this but have been watching videos on YouTube. I'm not looking to do a sink and stovetop. The theme I'm going for is like a Japanese pod that you sleep in for the night.
I'm thinking get a 3x3 or two, cut it into 6" or 8" sections and position them vertically throughout the van to raise the subfloor. Put some OSB strand board over them and find a nice memory foam mattress that I can cut to fit, and just do the whole back of the van. Insulation underneath. Sliding blackout curtains behind the driver and passenger seat, and then the rear if it has windows. I'm not sure yet whether to panel or carpet the sides. Maybe build some kind of storage out of 1x3s that run the length of the van on each side up high.
We both have Nintendo switches and a JBL charge speaker that seems to last forever to handle entertainment. Probably even find a place to hang an acoustic guitar. We went a couple months redoing the plumbing in our house so I'm used to peeing in Gatorade bottles, or going to the gas station for her or for me when I have to number two. I've done a lot of camping so bringing appropriate sleeping bags should take care of heat in the winter.
Most of my family is about 5 hours away and I'm tired of sleeping on couches. You can buy these Ford transits for the price of an Accord or Camry used. And I couldn't picture this build costing more than $1,000.
Just thought I'd ask the experts if this sounds plausible or am I just dreaming? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
