Any Richard Powers fans here?
I've been taken in by his writing ever since I read the Overstory. I'm currently reading The Goldbug Variations by him and it and am absolutely loving it. The depth, brilliance and scope of it surpasses anything I've ever read before and this I feel is unique to Powers' books and no others because he so intricately weaves in science, technology and music into a story. He's not a "popular" novelist among the general public and I get why that is. Before reading him, I need to make sure I'm in the headspace to read dense, verbose and sometimes highly technical jargon-y (albeit lyrical) writing that might at times go over my head. And yet, it's a delight to read him and highly rewarding. It feels like the boundaries of my mind are being stretched and expanded and I come out the other end, a different transformed person.
Really need someone to gush abt his books with!! I plan to read The Time of Our Singing by him soon. Would anyone be interested in joining me?
