I am currently planning my first build and got to the point of electrics. I already read a lot around here, watched many youtube videos and of course reels on instagram.
I see a mostly people using Victron (or similar) electric components to build an electric system that's more complex and expensive than some house installations I've seen.
What I barely see, on the other hand, is people using those big ass powerstation with >>2 kWh that have all kind of sockets (2x XT90 for solar, USB-C/A, 230 V, ...) out of the box.
Am I missing something important here?
All I wanna supply with it is fridge (12 V compressor cooler box), light, roof hatch fan and my phone. Maybe a small water heater but that's about it.
I could barely find any builds that used one of those power stations - so my question is: why?
You can have Solar charging, land line charging and alternator charging for \~1k € (excl. the solar panels).
Is it survivorship bias that causes only the fancy, heavy power demanding builds to make it online? Or is there a good reason to spend 3k (?) on a full victron setup? #lifestyle source
