What are my options for WordPress hosting with 1TB+ storage?
I’m building out a website for video games, especially to display high-resolution screenshots. The challenge I have is that most high-resolution images for video games vary in file size from \~300KB up to 3MB (depending on image format, dimensions, etc).
Even adding a few hundred images is already taking up around 1GB of space. Most WordPress hosting plans only seem to offer around 100GB maximum server space, so this isn't a very scalable solution.
To get this idea off the ground, I imagine I’ll need to upload around 1TB of images over the next 12 months, and then, assuming the project is successful, many more over the coming years. What are my best options for hosting?
Should I build it on a WP hosting service for now just to get it up and running? I assume the longer-term solution is something like S3 (or similar) with a Cloudflare CDN, which might be the right approach, but this sounds expensive and is beyond my area of expertise.
What’s the right way of setting this up architecturally, both for the short-term MVP setup and also thinking longer term?
*(I know I could reduce image size by optimising them first, but the whole point of this site is to provide access to the original high-res screenshots.)* #programming #dev #technology source
