Why is no increment the norm in online chess?
All the major tournaments: titled tuesday, lichess arena, other speed tourneys, and even by lobby size are primarily no increment. 3+0, 5+0, 10+0, etc. I don’t get the appeal of testing mouse skills nearly as much as the chess itself. I can’t even bring myself to play 10+0 anymore because it turns into a makeshift bullet game towards the end. The game is high quality in the opening and middlegame, and you lose the advantage you’ve built in a crazy time scramble where you can flag up so much material
I know I sound like I’m coping but it’s a genuine concern
Why don’t more tournaments and players in general play 3+2, 10+5, etc?
