What are some good Blockchains to develop on?
Hey everyone, lately I’ve been developing on the top blockchains like Solana and Ethereum but I wanted to branch out and check others chains to see if they perform better or are more wirht putting my skillset to. I read this comparison article https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/polkadot-vs-cardano-vs-venom%3A-a-comprehensive-comparison-for-blockchain-developers on Polkadot, Cardano, and Venom and it gave me ideas on maybe trying out a smaller chain like the ones listed to see if there’s any benefit.
To briefly summarize
**Cardano,** A classic chain that’s been around for severl years, the Cardano Settlement Layer is well recognized and can handle transactions prety well. They’re Proof-Of-Stake and their algorithm is all about security (IMO). CVM is also handy when it comes to the coding languages but it’s different than Ethereum so the skillset doesn’t translate. ADA is also popular and their randomized process of participation through their consensus mechanism is great in being decentralized.
**Polkadot**, Known for it’s parachain architecture enabling specialized blockchains to interact and transfer data/assets. The Nominated Proof-of-Stake (NPoS) consensus mechanism promotes security and scalability, especially when it comes to nominating projects on the chain to see which projects should be placed on their parachain which helps a ton for new/smaller projects that want to get noticed. The only downside is the crazy competition that comes with the parachain nominations.
**Venom** is a Layer-0 scalable blockchain with a focus on real-world applications. Its unique Masterchain, Workchains, and Shard Chains architecture allow for interoperability, which is one of the biggest things that should be built in Crypto (feel like it’s one of the best use cases).
Venom is also using a round robin transfer structure to allow validators to take turns producing blocks so validators aren’t always the same choice, and it prevents whales from capitalizing on the project and keeping all the voting rights. What’s considered a double-edged sword is the fact that Venom has licensing from the Abu Dhabi global Market and has a ton of backing. Although this is good, it may affect the way people perceive the whole “decentralization” aspect of the chain.
Overall, all three projects have their unique strengths, and weaknesses, but I’d like to see what people think. Is it plausible to build up on ADA to see what you can do with the community, is it worth trying to compete with everyone on getting a parachain project, or would it be most beneficial to try newer chains like Venom and capitalize on the early rise of the chains lifespan.
Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on these projects and which one you think has the most potential for growth and success.
