what the title says😭😭a few months ago, i read the kite runner and i think it’s safe to say, i was emotionally devastated. even today, when i’m scrolling through insta and a reel comes up about it, i’m almost tearing up! this book is a masterpiece. i’ve read a thousand splendid suns, another book by the same author and while that made me cry too (i adore mariam and laila), the kite runner made me go through a different kind of turmoil!
i realised how suffocating and gut-wrenching it was to read that book. and i finally understand the reason. it was because what i was reading was actually amir’s guilt of never being the friend he should have been to hassan who literally gave him everything he had!!😭❤️tbh, im one of those people who believe that amir did NOT deserve hassan. at all. i definitely blame amir’s father for how he turned out, yes but also? him as a character itself is very unlikeable to me. i can never ever sympathise with him. while i really feel grateful for what he did to help sohrab, i definitely feel he did it more out of remorse and guilt rather than actual respect and love for his long lost friend. hassan’s letter always makes me sob omg😭😭😭even after knowing everything- that amir saw what happened to him that evening and did nothing- hassan never held it against him! this just breaks my heart. he deserved so so SO much better than what life gave him!❤️🩹
this book will always be so close to my heart even though i don’t think i can ever read it again. i was thinking about it for days after when i finished and i still do, when days get too quiet. i keep thinking what would have happened had hassan been alive and they actually met? would amir have been able to face him?😭i keep thinking about this and somewhere, i believe that they never should have met again. amir did not deserve him and wouldn’t have been able to face him anyway, knowing what he did (framing him for a robbery and..yk.) but god, i wish hassan had lived. with his wife and his son, happily till he died peacefully and not because life was cruel and did that to him!
the one thing that absolutely BREAKS me is the fact that hassan’s son went through the same thing from the same person who stole the life out of hassan in his childhood. whenever i think of this, my day legit gets ruined😭i hate asif sm, i swear. he deserved much much worse than what he got.
all in all- this book and the way it made me feel is something i will never forget! khaled hosseini is such an incredible writer, truly!!💛
what are your thoughts on this book? let’s discuss, i want to share the emotional trauma i got😭☝🏻 #entertainment source
