I went and lived in a Buddhist temple in the forest for a month, and now I can't go back to capitalism.
Basically title.
But yeah, i just did a retreat at a Buddhist meditation temple, deep in the forest. Its set away from this small town (with one shop) and its on about 70 hectares of land. It took me about 2-3 days to unwind from normal life and once I was into it, I didn't want to leave.
Everyone still works, like people still need to be fed, toilets and showers needed to be cleaned... but everyone was equal. No one was above or below anyone else, in terms of humanity. They indeed had a strict structure of course, like with bosses and stuff. But even your "boss" was just a guy who showed you around and explained things. He would work alongside you and also jpin you for lunch. Imagine a western guy doing that.....but everyone was so incredibly nice, calm and peaceful.
There was no drugs, no crime, no alcohol, no meat (they're all vegetarian) and most of all, NO CAPITALIST NIGHTMARE. because no money ever changes hands, you're not worrying about making money to survive.
I dont know how this relates to antiwork, seeing as everyone still had to "work". But it wasn't regular like a job; you only did maybe 3 hours per day amd then it was free time. And because there were so many people there, many hands made light work.
Desperately want to go back, but my visa was running out so I need to wait for another reset. source
