Negotiating salary, working hours and bonus before signing a contract in Germany
Hi everyone, I recently found a job and received the employment contract. Because the job market is pretty bad at the moment, I accepted the offer at the lower end of the salary range. I am now reviewing the contract and noticed that there is no mention of any salary increase or salary review in the future. Would it be reasonable to ask if they could include a salary review after the probation period or an annual increase based on inflation? The contract is also for 40 hours per week. Would it be reasonable to ask whether they would consider a 35 hour contract instead, with the salary adjusted accordingly? There is also a 5% bonus mentioned upon achieving 100% of the target. Does this normally mean 5% of the annual base salary? I am bit worried about negotiating too much because I don’t want to ruin the offer or make them think I am difficult, especially since I have already accepted the offer verbally. What would you do in this situation? Would you negotiate these points before signing or just accept the contract and discuss later? I would really appreciate advice from people working in Germany, especially anyone who has been in a similar situation. #local
