Desert heat is killing my sleep. Cooling blankets don’t work, what does?
Sleeping in 123 degree desert heat is destroying my sleep. What actually works for staying cool at night?
I live in the desert where summer temps can hit 120+ degrees, and on top of that I genuinely cannot sleep unless it’s cold. Bad combo ik I didn’t choose to live in a desert.
Anyways I’ve gone down the rabbit hole trying to fix this and nothing has worked. Here’s where I’m at:
∙Cooling blankets - Bought three different ones. They feel cool for maybe 5 minutes then they’re just… blankets. I bought a cooling topper and doesn’t do much of anything.
∙BedJet - Was seriously considering it until someone told me it’s basically an overpriced fan. Is that actually true?
∙AC unit - Ours is garbage, not much I can do there. I rent.
∙Fan - Only covers one side of the bed. The second I roll over in my sleep I wake up in a sweat.
I’m not locked into any specific product category. Mattress toppers, cooling pads, chiliPAD type stuff, whatever. I just need something that actually maintains a cold sleeping environment throughout the whole night, not just for the first few minutes.
Anyone in a hot climate actually found something that works long term? I’m at the point where I’m genuinely losing sleep over this (literally). #lifestyle source
