Leisure battery under bonnet
I bought my new van with 2 batteries in the engine bay, the previous owner was using a secondary standard car battery with no split charge or solar ect.
I am planning on adding a dc to dc charger, a solar panel and a new leisure battery set up, I understand most leisure batteries cannot handle the heat from the engine. However I cannot think of a suitable place for the battery to go inside the van, I don’t want to waste any more cabinet space.
What would be the best option: use a suitable lead acid battery under the bonnet to keep costs down and make the installation easier, or use a better lithium battery and somehow find a space to set it all up inside the van?
Keeping it in the engine bay would just be so much easier for setup and space saving but from what I’ve read lead acids just isn’t very good and lithium cannot be kept under the bonnet.
