Vine is a Gen-Z themed programming language and compiler written in Go
It’s a small, statically-typed procedural language built from scratch, lexer, parser, AST, semantic analysis, and a bytecode VM, mainly as a way to actually understand how compilers work without making it feel dry.
The goal is to keep things fun, a bit expressive, and open to experimentation with language design while still being grounded enough to learn real compiler construction principles.
I’m looking for people who’d be interested in contributing or just sharing ideas. If you’re into compilers, interpreters, Go, or even editor tooling like VS Code extensions, there’s a lot of room to explore. Things like adding new language features, improving error messages and diagnostics, making the parser more robust, optimizing the VM, or even experimenting with type inference would all be super valuable.
I’m also very open to rethinking the project structure or architecture if you see better ways to organize things, this is as much about learning and evolving the design as it is about building the language itself.
