Have you ever felt like you were too old to start reading a classic novel?

I'm thinking about reading Gone with the Wind, but part of me wonders if I've missed the right time in life to appreciate it. Has anyone here read it for the first time as an adult? Was it worth the time, and did you enjoy it despite its length?
