What's the dumbest item that you regret replacing?

We just spent 300 dollars repairing a 14 year old refrigerator. We are also getting a new motor for it, which my partner is going to install tomorrow.

These were mutual decisions, but they were, as we measure them now, pretty dumb. It wasn't a fancy refrigerator. We bought it because it fit the space where we were putting it. It was our first home. We were fairly excited to be buying appliances at all. We should have shelled out for a new one, because mathematically, this decision doesn't make sense and isn't frugal at all.

We've done this a bunch, with cars especially. I'd describe it as within the sunk cost fallacy environment.

I want to know from others: what are the dumbs that you have dumbed?

Because we are a rocket ship launched to a star called Doing That Again.
