I just read a comment on a #crypto site whereby a crypto holder '...lost their crypto held on a cold wallet' and went on to insist that users '...not use neither a #cold-wallet or #Exchange because they will take your crypto...'
Wh-a-a-a-a-a-t? -No addiitonal information was given, -but HTF does one lose the crypto from a cold-wallet? The ONLY way this can be done is if the 12 or 24-word BIP39 seed-phrase is shared. Your crypto is not actually on the cold-wallet, its on the blockchain. Your cold-wallet is the KEYS to that crypto.
"Not Your Keys - Not Your Crypto" is how it is.
I have no further information as to what this person was on about, but I'm willing to bet that it was through user error: a misplaced or shared/stolen seed-phrase...
Cold-wallets, while not 100% absolutely forever secure, are still your best and most safe way to hold your crypto. Just be sure to have your recovery phrase/seed-phrase in more than one place.
-A security deposit box at your bank, something. NEVER store your #seed-phrase on your phone, NEVER store your seed-phrase on your computer or on cloud recovery... THESE are what's not secure.
Use a Cold-Wallet (Trezor, Ledger, Tangem, -your choice,) and some indestructible (fire/water/wear resistant) WRITTEN-inscribed seed-phrase, like what is shown here as a ' seed bank. '
The 'seed-bank' comes with an inscribing pen (not shown.)
