Is exmatriculation required ASAP, or is it flexible?
Hi,
I’m an international master’s student at a German university. I defended my thesis mid December and received my certificate on January 9th.
I understand that I am now supposed to exmatriculate. The university confirmed I can exmatriculate anytime before March 31 (semester end).
This would be really ideal for me because there’s a good chance I’ll secure a job before the end of March. If that happens, I can transition directly from a student permit to a Blue Card, instead of going through the graduate permit step, which I’d prefer to avoid because it requires a blocked account and I don't have the complete funds.
My question is: Will the Ausländerbehörde accept me remaining enrolled until the end of the semester, or could this be considered a legal issue?
My second question, say I failed to get a job and had to apply for a graduate visa, will it start from Dec (defence sate) or will it start from the exmatriculation date (31 March)
