We are now deep into the "Ber" months and I can already…

We are now deep into the "Ber" months and I can already feel December pulling us in. The holidays aren't far away anymore; they are just a couple of months ahead. I hear Christmas songs starting to play in the neighborhood, holiday planning is beginning and I can feel that busy, familiar energy in the air.

But if I am being completely honest… October can also feel really overwhelming for me.

This is usually the time of year when reality hits me hard. I look at the goals I set back in January and realize how little time is left. The pressure I put on myself to finish the year strong can feel so heavy. On top of that, the world feels loud and chaotic right now and sometimes just getting through the day takes everything I've got.

Personally, the past month has left me completely drained mentally. I wasn't even physically tired but my mind was just exhausted, which made it so hard to get things done at work. When I am in that headspace, it's easy to start overthinking. I had to try really hard not to dwell on it because I knew that would only make me feel worse. Instead, I spent my free time watching C-dramas just to keep my mind busy and stop it from wandering into negative thoughts, especially on nights when I couldn't sleep.

I know I am not the only one feeling this way. To anyone who spent the last few weeks like me—just trying to survive your own thoughts, keep your head above water and find any little escape just to get through the day—I hope we can both be kind to ourselves.

I am learning that October should be a time to let go of stress not to pile on more pressure.

This month is a gentle reminder for me that it is okay to let things go. I don't have to force myself to hit expectations I made months ago. It is okay if my goals have changed. It is completely fine if my only priority right now is protecting my peace and making it to the end of the year in one piece.

I am trying not to let the holiday rush make me feel like I am failing. My worth isn't defined by how much work I get done and life isn't a race to December.

I want to take this month one week, one day, one breath at a time. I want to celebrate the fact that I have made it this far through a tough year. I will turn off the noise when it gets too heavy, hold onto the people who make me feel safe and go at my own pace.

We still have time left before the year ends. Good, quiet changes can still happen. I am taking a deep breath, I am going to stop blaming myself for being tired and I am letting October be the month I finally choose peace.

Here’s to remembering that resting isn't quitting and pausing isn't failing. Let’s take back our time and finish this year exactly how we want to, not how the world tells us to. 🥂🍾
