I always thought I understood things like locks and shared state when studying OS. On paper it made sense don’t let two threads touch the same thing at the same time, use mutual exclusion, problem solved. But it came into play when i am building a small project where maintaining session data is critical. Two sessions ended up writing to the same shared data almost at the same time, and it corrupted the state in a way I didn’t expect. My senior suggested me to use concepts of os That’s when I used concept locks and started feeling very real. Did anyone else have a moment where concurrency suddenly clicked only after something broke? #technology source
