Wandsworth Bridge Rd will forever be in my nightmares

This road is congestion mayhem. Got on the 295 and was stuck for a good 50 minutes. According to many locals, this is apparently the usual. Would make more sense if the road was fairly long but it’s only around a singular mile.

Feels like central - ish Southwest as a whole has incredibly horrible traffic over the river. Battersea and Putney Bridge are choices only madmen would choose, Hammersmith hasn’t been opened since 230BC and Albert Bridge is now closed too.

Cycling on Battersea Bridge is a death wish. It’s the oldest wooden bridge in London and has one lane on either side. The lanes are incredibly thin with no cycle lanes or really even space to allot for a cyclist. The intersection on the Chelsea side is so incredibly dangerous and I believe there have been reported traffic accidents in the past although I can’t confirm. Putney Bridge has traffic backing up on its high street so far back that a taxi driver once just dropped me off near the train station and apologised, waiving the charge and just recommending me not to use the bridge again.

I wanted to take the bus as I stupidly assumed it would save me time originally to get across the river rather than walking and I had to get there fairly quick. Will definitely just cycle or walk next time but it says a lot about the roads in the general area.
