Suggestions for a target rifle in 308
Looking for a target rifle in 308, something that will be shot more than carried, or hunted with (if ever).
I had a Remington Model 7 (NOT a 700) in 308, and that thing kicked like a mule even with a limbsaver pad, especially from the bench, so I got rid of it. That was a "carry a lot, shoot a little" kind of field rifle, I got it for cheap from a family member, it didn't fit my needs, so it went away.
I would like to get back into 308, but I don't want something that kicks so much, as I want to use it mostly as a target rifle with a little more staying power than my 223. I'm not talking super long range, most I have access to would be 300yds semi frequently, and 500yds, but that range is far away, and would be once a year at most.
Most typical would be 100-300yds, and I'm looking for something more setup for target shooting, less for hunting. This will be shot more than I ever carry it, but I don't want something so heavy that it couldn't be taken hunting. I do not hunt currently, and have no plans to, but I may some day in the future.
