I crashed today. Not sure I should be riding anymore.
I’m a newer rider who made a dumb decision and overcooked it into a corner. I managed to dump a ton of speed on the gravel shoulder of the back road I was riding and the sum total of my crash damage is a broken mirror, and a really sore neck and back. I feel extremely grateful and fortunate that some emergency training instincts kicked in and that it was a big pile of leaves at my landing spot and not a metal guardrail or a bunch of rocks.
That said: I made a stupid riding decision that put me in that position in the first place. With a wife and kids that depend on me I’m second guessing my decision to ride. I love it. The mental health benefits of getting out and riding have been huge. In the near immediate aftermath I’m struggling with trusting myself to get back on, learn from my mistakes, make better decisions and progress past this failure.
