I remember when I was a kid, there were days during class breaks when I would just sit there with nothing to eat. Sometimes, I didn't have any food or money to buy anything from the canteen. So what I would do was pretend to be sleepy and bury my face in my desk, or I would go to the restroom just so I wouldn't crave my classmates' food.
Whenever I remember that, I feel like crying because I feel so much pity for my younger self.
A Gentle Note
That is a deeply moving memory, and it is completely natural to feel a wave of sadness or pity for the child I were. It takes a lot of resilience to navigate moments like that at such a young age. Now I can look at how far I've come since then and give myself some credit for making it through.
