Thoughts on the cbr500r for a beginner-intermediate level rider?
I made a post the other day asking about if I should at my skill level get a 500 or skip up to the middleweight class. Most people said skip up, which is what I want to do. Out of the research and sitting on bikes, my favourite is the Suzuki gsx-8s/8r but in my area insurance is known to be a bitch, especially for young riders such as myself. And in case insurance is too high for me I am looking at the 500 range. My favourite is the cbr500r out of the ones I’ve researched and seen at dealerships, I think it’s the most comfortable seating position, the size of it and the looks, I really love how that bike looks. I mainly want to hear from riders who have experienced this bike, is it torquey? The main reason I’m drawn the gsx8 series is it’s a very torquey bike, which is what I want. I’m used to dirtbikes, which have a lot of torque compared to many street bikes. I prefer torquey bikes as I find them exiting and satisfying. Also, does the bike feel too heavy and slow? I want a bike that is quicker than my 250cc dirtbike and i did some math and with my body weight included the ninja 500 is lower power to weight ratio than my 250, so wouldn’t that make it slower accelerating? I didn’t calculate the cbr but it is heavier at the same power so wouldn’t it be even slower? I’m not an expert at this and I’m just looking at the right bike for me that will last me the year and a half until I can get my full license. Other bike recommendations are greatly appreciated, any advice would be great help. Thanks #motorcycles source
