The head coach of the Indonesian national team Shin Tae-yong (STY) gave his opinion after the Garuda team confirmed themselves to be included in Group D, the 2023 Asian Cup with Japan, Iraq and Vietnam, during the group draw held at the Katara Opera House, Doha, Qatar, Thursday (11/5).
"Of course our group is not easy. But I have full confidence in my team," Shin said.
The South Korean said that fighting two strong opponents like Vietnam and Japan was a positive thing. "I can say that dealing with our rivals like Vietnam and Japan is a positive thing. As long as we can prepare well, I think we can give a good performance against them," he said.
Although Indonesia is the team with the lowest FIFA ranking, Shin Tae-yong will continue to provide positive motivation to his players.
"We're the lowest-ranked team out of all the contestants. Even so, every match will be very challenging. We will fight to the end. I will keep the players motivated, so they can give their best in every game."
The kick off of the 2023 Asian Cup will take place on January 12, 2024.
