Rain jacket that can handle heavy rain for prolonged periods without soaking through?
I’m currently looking for a solid waterproof jacket. My price range is $150-$200 CAD or so. It would be good to get something that breathes decently but my priority is being able to keep my torso completely dry regardless of how heavily it’s raining without wearing a traditional raincoat. I want something that I could wear while out hiking and at least an hour away from shelter without worrying that rain will come through.
I currently own a TNF CITY BREEZE RAIN PARKA that I bought in 2019. It’s a fairly good jacket but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s designed to handle heavy rain for prolonged periods. It’s more for limited time in the rain which it does a good job at.
I’ll be using this jacket mainly for going hiking, on long walks (at least an hour from any place to shelter) commuting and occasionally for outdoor work. It’s also important that things in the jacket pockets like my phone, iPod and wallet stay completely dry.
