So sick of tourists not heeding the advice of people that know the water. Today was rough, both mentally for me and the sea as well. Two young people got sucked into open sea after going past the rock barrier on their boogie board (father was told to not let them past the rock wall, but of course, he says his family grew up on the lake lol) her family not having the skills to help her out. Poor older brother begged for me to save his sister. Not one tourist tried to help, just me and another moke jumped in to assist them. Not here for accolades, just expressing my frustrations with tone deaf tourists that come to Hawaii using this place as their personal adventure spot and we are the ones who have to save them when they run into any sort of troubles. Full face masks, crowding honu, backs to the ocean, no ability in reading the ocean, standing up on wet rock, and of course the father did not try to help. Today we were lucky, but I hope to never ever be in that situation again. I hope that they both get to live a long life.
