How can I deal with the threat of being kicked out the moment I turn 18?
I am a 17 year old German teen with Russian citizenship. Not the best combination, and it gets worse. My mother, my only legal guardian, is threatening to kick me out the moment I turn 18 (and has already been mentioning that since I was 12–13) and to get me fired from my job. The German law says that parents are no longer required to care for their children once they turn 18 years old and that they can, legally, be kicked out, since the goal is to encourage independency.
I have a friend whose mother offered shelter in case of emergency multiple times, but I know I can't stay there forever. I am planning to start selling old clothes and stuff I don't need anymore as well as start art commissions in my local area and country to earn a little money, but I'm not going to earn much.
All job applications go through the parents in Germany, meaning my mothe will have full control at any given point when I work and she can get me fired anytime. She has set strict expectations — I can only work on Saturdays and have to be home by 10 pm.
I currently have about €600 saved.
I am still in school with about 2–3 more years to go. I plan on speaking to my school psychologist about this, but I was wondering what else is in my power to do about this situation. What can I do to ensure I have a start good enough to survive until I can work full-time? And also, how much will this ruin my future? I originally planned on studying right after I graduate, but I guess that dream will be nearly impossible to achieve now. Thanks in advance for any advice.
