I was raised by my father alone, and he worked hard to provide for me with what little we had.
Growing up without much money shaped the way I saw the world.
Simple things felt like luxuries to me.
I remember thinking that hotdogs were food only rich families could afford, and that celebrating birthdays or eating fast food was not meant for someone like us.
I had my first taste of Jollibee when I was already 24 years old, and I remember savoring every bite while quietly worrying if my salary would be enough to pay for it. Today, these things are easier to buy, but the feeling is still bittersweet. It reminds me of my father's quiet sacrifices and how he carried everything so I could keep moving forward.
